In 1985, the movie “Back to the Future” showed a future where flat-screen wall mounted TVs, electronic tablets, video conferencing, and wearable technology were a part of every day life, even though none of those things existed at the time. In the same way, thirty years ago no one imagined a health care environment that included GPS tracking, scripts that “teach” nurses how to introduce themselves, and the dangers of posting too much information to Facebook.
Now that future exists and like maneuvering a flying hoverboard, nurses must learn how to navigate their workplaces.
