Run for a Board Position
The MNSA Board of Directors are elected annually in the House of Delegates as Annual Convention. Being on the board of directors is a great way to learn and improve your leadership skills. It's a great way to network with other student leaders from across the state and it looks FANTASTIC on a resume!
Coordinates and oversees all board activities and represents MNSA to other organizations. Responsible for organizing and leading board meetings. Participates in all MNSA committees, except for Nominations and Elections Committee.
1st Vice President
Works on bylaws and policies of MNSA, monitors legislation affecting nursing and oversees parliamentary procedure using Robert’s Rules of Order. Responsible for leading Delegates Hall at the Annual Convention. Leads board meetings in absence of President.
2nd Vice President
Coordinates the necessary activities in planning for the annual convention. Leads board meetings in absence of President and 1st Vice President.
Responsible for creating and monitoring MNSA's budget and reimbursements. Heads MNSA fundraising efforts.
Records minutes at the monthly meetings, types them and sends copies to all board members and the NSNA. Assists with creating agenda for each meeting. Updates and maintains the MNSA member list. Monitors MNSA voicemail box and forwards to appropriate board member for response. Responsible for distributing monthly Eblasts to all members.
Responsible for gathering advertisements for the newsletter, website and convention booklet. Also responsible for acquiring exhibitors for the annual convention.
Communications & Newsletter Director
Responsible for setting up and maintaining a website that should be updated monthly, using information from each board member. Maintains the MNSA Facebook page and other social media sites. Designs and publishes the MNSA newsletter NURSETALK and uploads to the website.
Community Health and Image & Breakthrough to Nursing Director
Responsible for learning about and educating others on the present image of nursing while supporting a positive portrayal of the profession and promotes MNSA’s current community health initiative. Presents the scholarships and awards at the annual convention and develops the next year’s Community Health Initiative with research and rationales provided.
Membership and Nominations & Elections Director
Responsible for maintaining school SNA contacts and assisting new schools to start a chapter and to obtain constituency. Visits local SNA meetings to promote leadership and involvement within MNSA. Recruits MNSA members to run for State and National office and leads elections at State Convention.
